What is a tire inflator

1: Why tire inflator is neccessory?

Why is this thing just needed? You think, the tire pressure is not right, the feeling of driving is really awkward. The air pressure is low, the steering wheel feels bad, and the car shakes. The key is that it is easy to burst tires and has great safety risks. Moreover, fuel consumption is rising, tires are wearing fast, and life expectancy is discounted. In case of puncture on the road, if it is there, it can at least make it to the repair shop, so as not to make you lie prone. The best thing is, convenient! You don’t have to run a gas station or repair shop, you can do it anytime and anywhere. By the way, it can not only pump up tires, but also bicycles, motorcycles, ball games and inflatable toys. It is simply “one pump with multiple uses”. Therefore, I think this thing is your “safety guarantee” and “travel partner”, which is very worth starting.

2: the type of tire inflation pump and how to choose

To be honest, there are indeed a variety of inflatable pumps on the market, but I personally think that we ordinary car owners should mainly focus on these models, and there is no need to be too complicated:

Mainstream players:

Wired car inflator: ah, this is the most common, plug it into the 1 of the car cigarette lighter. Its advantages are quite obvious, with great strength, fast inflation and real price. The disadvantage is that the cable is sometimes a bit annoying, and you have to operate beside the car, which is inseparable from the car’s power supply.

Wireless portable air pump (built-in battery): I personally stand on this side! Built-in battery, no wire tie, it is not too convenient to use, a small one does not take up space. Of course, we have to see how long its battery can last, and the price will be slightly higher than that of the wired one, so 1 to lose. However, the victory can be used anytime and anywhere, and the emergency is absolutely awesome.

AC Inflatable Pump (Household): This is directly plugged into the socket at home. It has high power and inflation speed. It is called “swishing”. However, it doesn’t want to take it out of the house. It is basically exclusive to the garage and is suitable for those who like to work with tires at home.

Foot-operated/manual air pump: This thing is relatively primitive. It depends entirely on your “real kung fu” and does not need electricity. Environmental protection is environmental protection, but to tell the truth, it is really tiring to use and inefficient. I think it’s okay to use it for emergency use, or to pump up bicycles and basketball. If you really want to inflate car tires, it’s definitely a physical job. I don’t want to do it.

When I personally will be concerned about the point of purchase:

When choosing, I think these places must be carefully looked:

Power and inflation speed: this directly determines the efficiency of your pump, the larger the number, the more quick to pump. Generally look at PSI or Bar.

Maximum air pressure: Make sure it can meet the air pressure requirements of your car tires. Usually a family car, 150PSI is definitely enough, and there is nothing wrong with it. It is better than not enough.

Power supply mode: It depends on your usual usage habits. If you always like to run outdoors or don’t have a socket around you, the wireless built-in battery is definitely more convenient.

By the 1, these functions are also very good points:

Tire pressure preset and automatic shutdown: this function is the top priority in my opinion! Set the tire pressure and it will stop automatically. There is no need to worry about overdoing it. It is safe and labor-saving.

Tire pressure display: The digital display is definitely clearer and more accurate than the reading of the pointer. There is nothing to say about this.

Lighting: When the lights are dark at night, or when the light is not good, a light is on, which can really help a lot and the vision is much clearer.

Multifunctional interface: In addition to cars, it can also cheer up bicycles and various ball games. One machine has multiple uses. I think it is quite cost-effective.

Size and portability: See if there is a suitable space in your car for it, and it is not convenient to pick it up.

Noise level: This may not be paid much attention to, but if you use it frequently and the noise is too loud, it will be very unpleasant to use and the experience will be greatly reduced.

Brand and after-sales service: after all, it is something related to driving safety. choose a reliable brand, provide better after-sales service, and feel at ease when using it. in case of any problems, it is better to solve them.

Budget: The last thing is to see how much you plan to pay, depending on your needs and wallet.

3. How to use the tire inflation pump correctly

Preparation before use:

Check the air pump: before using it, take a rough look at whether it is damaged or the line is broken. This is a reason why we have to take a look at it before we use a tool.

Figure out recommend tire pressure: this is very important! Generally, there is a small sticker on the door frame on the other side of your car’s driver’s seat, or on the inside side of the fuel tank cap, or on the instruction manual, which says how much gas your car should breathe. Don’t guess, the number mentioned by the manufacturer is the most reliable.

Stop the car and pull the handbrake: this is the basic operation. no one wants to inflate the car, right?

Detailed use steps:

Power connection: if it is wired, just plug it directly into the cigarette lighter in your car. If it is wireless, make sure it has enough power.

Unscrew the valve cap: it is the small cap on the tire. Unscrew it and put it away. Don’t lose it accidentally.

Attach the air-filled tube: the air-filled tube is usually screwed by rotating or pressing. Make sure it is attached tightly and don’t leak.

Set the target tire pressure: If the air pump has this function, directly input the recommend tire pressure just found. In this way, when the set value is reached, it will stop by itself, thus saving worry.

Start inflation: Press the start button and you will hear the air pump “buzzing” to start working.

Look at the display and stop when you reach the number: stare at the number on the air pump and wait until you set the value, or turn it off manually when you feel it is almost there. It is more convenient to have the automatic shutdown function, regardless of it.

Pull out the tube and cap: when the inflation is over, pull out the inflation tube first and then screw back the valve cap. Don’t forget this step, it’s dustproof.

4. Maintenance and common problems of tire inflation pump

Daily maintenance, in fact, on a few points:

Wipe casually: every time you use it up, just wipe the outside with a wet cloth, especially where it is stained with dust and mud. This small action can help it “longevity” a lot.

Find a good place to put it: this thing is most afraid of wet tide and direct sun. Find a dry, cool place to put it away. The original packaging box or toolbox is the first choice to avoid bumping.

Pay attention to the power consumption of wireless models: if you use a wireless air pump, someone like me who always forgets things, you have to charge it from time to time. Don’t wait until you really need it to find out that there is no electricity. The scene was really embarrassing.

Common problems and solutions, don’t panic:

If you use it, you will inevitably encounter some minor situations, but most of them can be handled by yourself.

Inflation pump does not respond: this problem is quite common. My experience is to check whether the power supply is firmly plugged in or whether the fuse of the car cigarette lighter is burned. Try changing the fuse or changing the socket, and it usually solves.

Inflation is slow or unsatisfactory: in this case, I usually check whether the air pipe is tightened first. sometimes the air leaks when the air pipe is loose. Then check the lower trachea for damage and air leakage.

Tire pressure display is not allowed: my own habit is to occasionally compare with an independent tire pressure gauge. If the reading deviation of the air pump is too large, then you have to have a number in your heart, know how much it is, or consider finding a place to calibrate it.

The noise suddenly increased: it is normal for the air pump to work a little loud, but if it suddenly becomes particularly noisy, I will turn it off first to see if there are pebbles or foreign objects involved. If the internal parts are loose, it will be more troublesome to repair them yourself, and you may have to look for a professional.
